- Play of light and shade
- Element of surprise and delight
- Texture
- Decorative Element
- Clarity of Geometry
- Therefore Clarity of Shapes and Forms
- A sense of Tradition
- An understanding of Climatic Response
- Contextualism and Regionalism
- (Not a passing fashion)

- Beautiful in water
- On land becomes a “mushy-mess”
Structure – disappear
Form – collapses
Colour – withers away
Transporting of Architectural ideas, manifestations, expressions from one cultural and social context or climatic situation to another – may if not properly controlled and assimilated may result in creating a “white elephant”.
Search for clues from among our heritage for a root from which a “tree of tradition” may sprout forth;
And on to this “tree of tradition”, as architects we are able to graft ‘something’ on to it;
To create a ‘hybrid’, which is able to survive in the modern contemporary situation that we have.
We are not talking about transposing a traditional element straight from the traditional context into the present-day context but grafting something on to create a ‘new tree’.
